Implementation
Five lessons, one system. Here’s the actual week-by-week build, not just the idea of it.
Week 1 — Fan Magnet
- Pick one magnet: early access, a personal voice memo, or a giveaway entry.
- Set up a free MailerLite, ConvertKit, or Flodesk account and build a one-field signup page.
- Write the automated welcome email that delivers it (see Fan Magnet for full copy examples).
- Put the link in your bio and your next post’s caption.
Week 2 — Fan Conversion
- Write your thank-you page: one headline, one line, one button — matched to the platform your traffic actually comes from.
- If you have a release coming up, set up a gated pre-save through Feature.fm, ToneDen, or Show.co instead of a plain thank-you page — it does the email capture and the platform follow in one step.
Weeks 3–6 — Fan Upsell sequence
- Draft the 3-email ladder from Fan Upsell: a second-platform ask at week 2, a third at week 4, a fourth at week 6.
- Set up link-click tagging in your email tool so each ask only goes to people who haven’t followed that platform yet.
- Decide what “true fan” looks like for you and tag that segment separately.
Ongoing — Fan Offer + Fan Newsletter
- Block 30 minutes twice a month to write one real email: a story or update, one P.S. line about merch if it’s real.
- Use the month template from Fan Newsletter so you’re never starting from a blank page.
- Never send an email that only sells — that’s the one rule that doesn’t bend.
What to actually track
Track your email list size and your platform follower counts — not downloads, not one-time sales. Those two numbers are what a real music career is built on now, and they’re the only two this whole course is designed to grow.
The whole system in one line
Earn the email → convert it to one follow → keep giving value with a merch aside → escalate to more platforms and true-fan status → repeat monthly, forever.
